„The art ist to stand up once more than you’ve been pushed down.“
– Winston Churchill
After a moderate cold but yet wet winter the bud burst began during end of April. Cool spring nights let the vines grow only slowly – during this time consistent work in the vineyards is essential – shoots that did not grow as well had to be cut off. Blossoming began the 7th of June and took a bit of time – longer than usual. Even though it kept on raining, the powerful growth of the vines did not seem to be affected. In July we finally got the long-awaited temperature change – the sun came out and heated up our district. A wonderful September ensured the accumulation of sugar inside of the berries. We were able to begin harvest on the 30th of September after a few days of fog. We began with our Sankt Laurent grapes that were fully ripe and healthy. In large parts of Austria, the winegrowing regions had to combat humid weather and ripening problems – we did not seem to be having the same issues in our district. Are grapes were healthy and ripe – we were able to harvest all of our vineyards in October.
