Zantho Zweigelt Reserve 2023 – this is what a great Zweigelt tastes like
Our Reserve was selected from the best grapes of the vintage and carefully aged in small oak barrels. The wine captivates with deep purple and violet reflections in the glass. On the nose, the Zweigelt Reserve shows deep fruit notes of fresh cherries, blueberries, tobacco, and spicy impressions. On the palate, this wine reveals deeply spiced cherry and wild berry notes, supported by fine acidity and finishing with a long-lasting finish. Zantho Zweigelt Reserve 2023 is a wonderful food pairing for game and red meat and offers excellent aging potential. € 22.53/liter
Distribution of Zweigelt:
Crossed in the 1920s by its namesake Professor Fritz Zweigelt from Blaufränkisch x Sankt Laurent, the variety only wrote its success story after the war. A key factor was that wine pioneer Prof. Lenz Moser planted the variety on a larger scale and also recommended it. As Austria’s most widespread red wine grape, the spectrum of Blauer Zweigelt ranges from fruity wines to be drunk young to powerful Zweigelt Reserve wines from oak barrels.
Significance and requirements of Zweigelt:
Around Andau, not far from Lake Neusiedl, red wines thrive in a perfect environment. Zweigelt is the most widespread red wine variety in Austria and requires deep, nutrient-rich soils.
