Zweigelt
2022 – 0,75l – 8,90 €
The grapes grow in our vineyards in the wine region Neusiedlersee which is characterized by dry, gritty and mineral soils. The region counts to the warmest and dryest spots in Austria and gives therefore ideal conditions for the production of wonderfully distinctive red wines.
An incredibly deep red color characterizes our Zweigelt. In the nose the wine shows deep fruit of fresh plums and dark berries with some hints of black pepper. On the palate the wine seduces with juicy fruit paired with fine acidity. The medium body is backed up by fine acidity and end in a long and mouthfilling finish.

The red grape Zweigelt is the most spread red grape variety in Austria. It is a crossing from Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent. The name derives from breeder Professor Fritz Zweigelt who worked on the crossing in 1922 at Klosterneuburg. Zweigelt covers today about 6.200ha – which makes up 14% of Austria’s vineyards.
The grape variety is planted in almost all wine regions in Austria but brings only regularly extraordinary quality in Carnuntum and Neusiedlersee region. Its versatility is amazing: from young, fresh and fruity wines up to complex and rich wines finished in oak barrels with good ageing potential – this grape variety is a real allrounder.
