Scheurebe is a crossing of Riesling and most probably a second wild variety and was created by German viticulturalist Georg Scheu in 1916. Sadly, his vast research into breeding vines has been lost.

 
Spreading:  
 
when fully mature, very high quality dessert wines are possible, particularly in Neusiedlersee, where they are also produced as Straw-Wines and Schilfwines.
