Vintage 2017

Out of the order temperature fluctuations and unforeseeable weather conditions characterized the vintage of 2017. The mild winter resulted in an early bud burst, meaning that we had to be very careful because of the late frost period around May. Especially dangerous for the young plants and the young shoots. Although these late frost nights arrived at the end of April and beginning of May we did not have all too big problems in the vineyards. The damage was minimal. Summer was very hot and dry. Several heat waves and a drought period where significant for the course of 2017. The vines where thirsty – we had to wait until mid of August for cooler nights to appear. We started with harvesting the first grapes at the beginning of September. It was a demanding year for plants and humans but our vines thanked us with extraordinary quality!
