The year 2019 began dry and mild – unusual temperatures where the cause of one of the earliest budbursts ever in the history of Zantho. In some vineyards the buds burst three weeks earlier than usual. On top of that we had strong vegetational growth and we had to accelerate our work in the vineyards. In the month of Mai, we finally had some much-needed rainfall, and the groundwater was refilled. The resulting cooler temperatures slowed down the growth of our vines and we were able to catch up with our quality measures in the vineyards. The summer was quite hot and kept the berries small, concentrated and thick-skinned – perfect for our wines in the reserve quality range. Our harvest began in August under perfect conditions – healthy grapes, no time pressure and everything under control – that is not too common and our form of luxury when speaking of perfect harvesting conditions.

Conclusion: Another year full of extremes – but to the end with a great finish for our top qualities! A great vintage for our ZANTHO whites, reds and sweetwines!
